How to add music to the Instagram story in 2021

 How to use Instagram music with stickers?

The easiest way to add music to stories is by using a music sticker added to Instagram since 2018. Follow these easy steps:

  1. Tap on Your story icon and snap your photo or video 
  2. Apply any filters or special effects you want
  3. Tap the Sticker icon from the top of the screen
  4. Search for a music sticker and add it
  5. Find your intended song from the Instagram music library. You can search by song, artist, or album.
  6. Choose what part of music you want to be in your story.
  7. Place the sticker. You can add lyrics in different shapes or not.
  8. Share your story

When uploading a photo as your story, the music will run for a max of 15 seconds. But if you are sharing a video which, Instagram cuts it to 15second segments, the music will play as long as the entire video.

Can’t add a music sticker to the Instagram story?

There are a couple of reasons why you don’t have the music sticker; for example:

  • Your Instagram is not up to date. You can easily update it from the app store and enjoy it.
  • You are trying to share a branded content campaign. Based on Instagram policies and copyright guidelines, stickers and emojis are not allowed in branded content ads.
  • You live in a region where this feature is not available. This feature is only available in 90countries. So if your country is not on the list, you can use a VPN to change your IP 

How to add music to the Instagram story without a sticker?

If you don’t have a music sticker, don’t worry. You can quickly put your own music on your Stories in two easy steps:

  1. Open a music player app such as Spotify or Apple music. Then play the music you want
  2. Go your Instagram story, and while the music is playing, record your Story.

This way, after uploading your Story, Instagram will check it for copyright issues; And, if detected, it will remove the Story.

Use Spotify to put music on your Instagram Stories.

If you have an account on Spotify, you can directly add music from your Spotify app to your Stories:

  • Find the music that you want on Spotify.
  • Tap on the three-dot icon on the top right corner
  • Select Share
  • Tap Instagram Stories

Add music to Instagram Story from SoundCloud.

  • Open the SoundCloud app and find the song you want to be on your Story.
  • Tap on the three-dot icon at the right bottom of the screen.
  • Select Stories

Use Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels is the newest feature that is a way to create short and fun videos with soundtracks. Let’s see how it is working:

  •  From Your story icon, choose Reel.
  • On the left side of your screen, you can see many editing tools, including Audio.
  • Search for a song in the Instagram music library and record your Reel.

Unfortunately, Instagram music is not available on feed posts yet. You can only make Reel videos and share them on your feed, but you can use third-party apps if you want to share regular posts with music.
