Instant and Useful Instagram cheats to gain more followers in 2020

Instagram has become the favorite social network of many — and not just for teens and Millennials. In fact,  35% of online adults use Instagram — up 3% from 2016. Compare that, for example, to 24% on Twitter.

Plus, folks don’t just use Instagram casually, as 38% of them use it several times each day.

But for those who have never used the platform before, or those who just want to take their usage to the next level, Instagram has some lesser-known tricks, settings, hacks, search options, and comment features you should know about. That’s why we set out to find them and list them all in one place.

Whether you’re a recruiter looking to showcase your company’s culture, a marketer in the ecommerce industry, or an individual who’s just looking to use Instagram in the best ways possible, there are tips and features here for you.

Get Notifications When Your Favorite People Post

Never want to miss an Instagram post from your favorite influencers again? You can choose to get a notification every time a specific user posts a new photo. All you have to do is turn on notifications for each user individually.

To turn on these notifications, visit a user’s profile, click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the post, and choose “Turn on Post Notifications” from the menu that appears.

Want to turn post notifications off? Just follow the same steps. It’s important to note that you must enable notifications from the Instagram app in your phone’s settings — here’s how.

To allow notifications on iPhone/iPad: Go to “Settings,” then “Notifications.” Choose “Instagram” and then turn on the setting to “Allow Notifications.”
To allow notifications on Android: Go to “Settings,” then choose “Apps,” then “Instagram.” Select the option to show notifications.

Add Special Fonts to Your Bio

Here’s an Instagram bio hack that can truly make your profile stand out. You can already add emojis to the bio beneath your profile photo, but your keyboard limits your creativity right there.

Using a couple of basic third-party websites, you can copy over some more special fonts not often found in the Instagram community. Here’s how.

Like People’s Comments

This isn’t a joke.  It’s fast and it works. No tools needed for this one! This simple tip can make an incredible difference.

Many people don’t fully understand what engagement can do. Why do you think so many people pay actual money for bots? Because engagement can get them authentic followers no matter how terrible their content is.  You need content that keeps people’s attention, but if all you care about is gaining a real following then all you need to do is simply engage.

Instead, next time you are in front of the TV scroll through some of your favorite influencers in your niche and “like” people’s comments on them.  The people that commented will get a notification that you liked their content. This will grab their attention, leading them to check out your page. This often converts to followers.

Do this throughout the day and you’ll notice a gradual increase in people following you. Best of all? It’s super easy and quick to do.  Just remember, if you have a high quality page it will help your chance for conversion.

Schedule Posts in Advance

Instagram being a mobile app, you’re probably in a routine of taking photos and posting them to your Instagram Story on the fly. But, you can also pre-post them from your computer for a set day and time in the future. This feature is available with  our social media scheduling tool, AiGrow.

Depending on the social scheduling tool you use, you might not include this step. Once you’ve toggled to the right account, however, you’ll launch your scheduling tool, navigate to your current connected profiles, and see Instagram as an available integration.

Optimize Your Instagram Bio

Your friends, family, and coworkers might be your first group of Instagram followers, but growing your audience takes more than the people who already know you. One key way to do this is to get your profile to appear in Instagram’s Explore page.

Hashtagging your posts with these words can expose your content to the people browsing these topics, but you can also use them in your Instagram name and bio to promote your profile.

Do a General Cleanup of Your Feed

In need of an Instagram audit of your account? The Instagram Archive feature makes it really easy.  Go ahead and take a good look at your profile and see if there’s any content you could do without. Maybe an old post is off-brand or you’ve recently adjusted your brand’s color palette?

The great thing is that because archiving a post isn’t permanent, so you can always test the water out by archiving a few posts here and there to see if it improves your Instagram aesthetic. Don’t like how it looks? Just un-archive all your posts and you’re back to where you started!

You can also take things a step further by temporarily archiving your content according to a theme. For example, if you have a bunch of posts with a certain composition, filter, or color palette, you hide all your posts that don’t fit that theme.

Use Your Analytics

Chances are, some of your Instagram content is already appearing on the Instagram Explore page! That could have easily slipped under your radar, and you might not even have realized where your extra boost in likes and engagement came from.

But the good news is, you can now understand exactly how many people are viewing your posts from the Instagram Explore page using Instagram Insights.

To view your analytics, head to your Instagram feed and tap the View Insights button underneath your post. From here, you can swipe up to gain more metrics around your post performance.

Find Your Best Time to Post

When it comes to getting your content on the Instagram Explore page, there are two big reasons to know when your best time to post is.

If you know when your followers are most active on Instagram, your posts will get more engagement as your followers are online to like, comment and engage with your latest posts.

High engagement on your posts, especially quickly after posting, signals to the Instagram algorithm that this piece of content is “of value” and worth putting on the Explore page for others to discover and engage with too.

Keep Your Overall Instagram Aesthetic on Instagram Stories

With Instagram Stories now appearing on the Explore page, it’s more important than ever that your brand’s style and aesthetic is present in everything that you post. Stories with content more similar to and representative of a creator’s typical feed posts are more likely to show up on Explore.

Another top tip when you’re creating Instagram Stories for the Explore page is to think about creating more dynamic, animated videos for your posts.

Whether that’s adding in some GIFs, visual effects or storyboarding a video series specifically for stories, think about having less static images and text, and more animations.

Instagram is one of the most fun (and visually appealing) social apps around. And now, with these tricks, you can use it to an even fuller extent.

Plus, many of these features can help to enhance your brand’s presence on Instagram. Now, you know how to use the app more efficiently, to make sure you’re only tagged in photos you want to appear on your profile, and have even more ways to engage with the people by whom you’d like to be discovered.
