Why is My Instagram Crashing?

There might always be a problem with an app because of a bug or an issue with the smartphone. Crashing issues are usually the case with major updates of IOS and Android or after releasing a new version of a cell phone.

Regarding the Instagram issues, some reasons might lead you to experience an Instagram crashing:

  1. You received many notifications on the app
  2. The Instagram app isn’t compatible with the Android version of your phone
  3. Your internet connection is weak
  4. Some apps are running in the background
  5. Malicious or illegal applications on your phone
  6. A problem in Instagram settings (the cause is usually a bug on the user’s end)

Regardless of the reason, if your Instagram is broken, you might have problems opening the app, using the Instagram camera, posting on your feed or story, uploading a video, direct messaging, etc.

12 Quick ways to Fix Instagram Crashing

I know that IG down is one of the Instagram problems that can be frustrating, especially when you use Instagram for business purposes. So if your Instagram keeps stopping and you want to know what to do, here are 12 ways you can apply to solve this problem:

1. Use AiGrow

Aigrow is a web-based Instagram growth agency with many features that help you avoid bugs and crashing issues you might face in the Instagram app.

Unlike the web version of  Instagram, Aigrow allows you to post on your feed, upload videos (even for longer videos and stories), DMs, and stay connected to your followers all the time.

It’s entirely safe and secure, you can even schedule Instagram posts, days, weeks, and months in advance, and they will automatically be published at the right times.

Aigrow is a full suite of tools that help you to manage and promote your business on Instagram, here are some other features you get access to using Aigrow services:

2. Restart Your Phone

Restarting your smartphone is not only a solution for the Instagram crashing problem but, it is the easiest way to erase almost every temporary error and issue on your phone.

To restart your iPhone, you should press and hold the volume button or the side button until the power off slider appears on the screen. Drag the slide and wait for about a minute till your phone is turned off. Now you can turn on your device and check out if the Instagram issue has been solved.

To restart your Android phone, press and hold the power button and the volume button at the same time until the screen turns off. Wait a minute and turn your phone back on.

3. Update the Instagram App

The second solution for the Instagram crashing problem is to check the App Store or Google play to see if you have installed the last version of the Instagram app or not.

Companies update their applications here and then to fix bugs, so if you have issues with Instagram or any of your applications, see if an update is available.

4. Free Up Some Space

When your smartphone is low on storage space, you will face problems that have nothing to do with the application. So if your Instagram keeps stopping and previous tips did not resolve the problem, you might want to check your storage space and delete some unnecessary files to solve Instagram issues.

To see your remaining storage space follow these steps:

If you are an IOS user, this is where you can check the remaining storage:

Setting > General >  iPhone storage

If you are an Android user, this is where you can see the remaining storage space:

Setting > Storage

5. Clear the Data/Cache

If none of those mentioned above tricks worked and your Instagram keeps stopping yet, then maybe the problem is corrupted caches. It can cause issues like Instagram crashing, so you need to clear your cache to prevent Instagram from being broken.

To clear the Instagram cache on your Android smartphone, follow these steps;

Phone settings> App info > storage > tap the clear cache option

Clear cache and data on IOS

If you are an ios user, you can’t clear the cache of apps in your ios device. To wipe out all the data/cache, you need to delete the app and reinstall it from the app store.

6. Uninstall And Reinstall the App

This trick works for both iPhone and Android, but it is primarily used in iPhone to clear corrupted caches.

The title is self-explanatory; just click on the IG app icon and hold until you delete the app. Then you can go on and download it again from the AppStore. Hopefully, you can solve the Instagram crashing problem.

7. Is IG Down?

Maybe the problem is not just for you, and everybody around the globe is facing an Instagram outage, like what happened to Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram in the early October of 2021 and affected millions of users.

Ask your friends or just google it to see whether it is a problem you are facing or it’s just an IG down again. Use Downdetector; it’s a website that monitors issues and outages with a lot of services, including Instagram, to check if there is an Instagram outage at the moment.

8. Update Your Phone

Maybe your Instagram is broken because your software is not up to date. Check out to see if you are using the last version of IOS or Android and install the latest version.

Here is a guide on how to check your software version:

If you are an Android user, follow this guide:

Setting > system and updates > software update

If you are an IOS user, follow this guide:

Setting > general > Software update

9. Exit the Beta Program

If you are a beta user, you might face more issues because beta apps are usually unstable and have more bugs, so you better exit the beta program and use the stable app. Here is how:

If you are an Android user, follow this guide to exit the beta program:

Launch Google Play Store, search for the Instagram app. Scroll down until you see “you are a beta tester.” Just click on “leave,” and you are done.

IOS users need to follow this guide:

If you are using IOS, you are probably not a beta user unless you have installed the TestFlight app and signed up to use the beta version. In case you never did install the app, then you do not need to do anything. You are already using the stable version.

10. Instagram is Broken While Posting?

Is Instagram crashing when posting a story, an image on your feed, or uploading a video?

If that’s the case, make sure your phone’s storage space is not running out; in many cases, your Instagram is broken or not working well due to the lack of enough storage space on your phone’s memory. To fix this issue, you need to reboot your phone.

Also, consider decreasing the volume of your images and videos if the solution above doesn’t work.

If the last option didn’t work too, report this problem to the Instagram help center in detail; you can do this by going to your Instagram settings, selecting help, tapping on rapport a problem, and writing about it.

11. Try Using  a Different Account

Since you might face Instagram crashing only with a specific Instagram account, I recommend that if all you want is to browse through Instagram pages, use another account you have, or create a new one easily with an email address or another phone number.

12. Use the Web Version of Instagram

I know that using the Instagram app is more convenient than its web version, but if your Instagram keeps stopping, you still have the opportunity to use Instagram; just open your browser and head over to the Instagram website. It has almost the same functionalities except that you can’t post images, videos, stories, direct messages, and shopping on Instagram.

Will I Lose Data on My Account if Instagram is Crashing?

The published data on your account has nothing to do with the issue. Hence when crashes have occurred, there have been no cases of losing posts.

Conclusion

Here I reviewed 12 simple ways to fix Instagram issues and all other temporary errors and bugs. So if you too are facing Instagram problems, just start from tip 1, which is the most simple one, and keep testing till you fix the problem.

However, If you couldn’t get through the Instagram crashing and don’t want to use the web version of Instagram with limited access, the only option is to use a third-party platform, like Aigrow.
